General Chiropractic Questions

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a natural, non-invasive approach to health that focuses on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system. Chiropractors use spinal adjustments and other manual techniques to correct misalignments (subluxations) in the spine, relieve nerve pressure, reduce pain, and support the body’s ability to function and heal optimally — without surgery or medication.

What conditions does chiropractic care treat?

At Kittatinny Chiropractic and Wellness Center, we treat a broad range of conditions including back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches and migraines, whiplash, arthritis, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves, carpal tunnel syndrome, sports injuries, auto injuries, work injuries, TMJ, vertigo, and much more.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes. Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for musculoskeletal conditions. Our chiropractors conduct a thorough evaluation before recommending any treatment and tailor their technique to each patient’s age, size, and condition. Serious adverse events from chiropractic adjustments are extremely rare.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

In most cases, no. You can call Kittatinny Chiropractic and Wellness Center directly at (973) 300-5667 to schedule an appointment without a physician referral. If your insurance plan requires a referral for chiropractic care, we recommend checking with your provider beforehand. Our front desk team is happy to help with insurance questions.

How many chiropractic visits will I need?

This depends on your specific condition, its severity, and your health goals. Some patients with acute pain feel significant relief within a few sessions. Others with chronic or complex conditions benefit from a longer course of care. At your first visit, your chiropractor will outline a recommended care plan with an estimated timeline and revisit it regularly as you progress.

About Your Visit

What should I expect on my first visit?

Your first visit includes an in-depth consultation, a thorough physical examination (including postural assessment, range-of-motion testing, and orthopedic evaluation), and on-site X-rays if needed. After reviewing all findings, your chiropractor will explain your diagnosis and present a personalized care plan. Many patients receive their first treatment on the same day. Plan for approximately 45–60 minutes for your initial appointment.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for easy movement. Avoid tight jeans, belts, or anything restrictive. You will remain fully clothed throughout your visit.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Most patients find chiropractic adjustments comfortable or immediately relieving. You may hear a popping sound — this is simply gas releasing from within the joint, similar to cracking your knuckles, and is completely harmless. Some mild soreness after the first few adjustments is normal and typically resolves within a day or two.

Can I bring my child for chiropractic care?

Absolutely. We welcome patients of all ages at Kittatinny Chiropractic and Wellness Center, including newborns and children. Our pediatric chiropractic techniques are gentle, safe, and age-appropriate. Many parents bring their children in for wellness care, posture concerns, and sports injuries.

Our Services

What services does Kittatinny Chiropractic and Wellness Center offer?

We offer a comprehensive range of services including chiropractic care, chiropractic adjustments, spinal decompression, shockwave therapy, massage therapy, physiotherapy, corrective exercises, ultrasound therapy, nutritional consultations, lifestyle advice, spinal screenings, X-rays, weight loss support, pediatric chiropractic, and worker’s compensation care — all at our Newton, NJ location.

What is spinal decompression and who is it for?

Spinal decompression is a non-invasive traction therapy that gently stretches the spine to relieve pressure on compressed discs and nerves. It is particularly effective for patients with herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, and chronic back or neck pain who want to avoid surgery.

What is shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy uses acoustic waves delivered through a handheld device to stimulate healing in chronic soft tissue and tendon conditions. It is highly effective for jumper’s knee, heel spurs, tennis elbow, shoulder calcifications, shin splints, and other stubborn overuse injuries that haven’t responded to conventional treatments.

Do you offer massage therapy?

Yes. Massage therapy is a core part of our integrated care approach at Kittatinny Chiropractic and Wellness Center. Our licensed massage therapist uses a variety of techniques to relieve muscle tension, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and enhance the effectiveness of your chiropractic adjustments.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, debit cards, and all major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Payment is expected at the time of service. If you have questions about payment options, please call us at (973) 300-5667.
